To make rock candy you will need some basic raw materials like one cup water, two cups of granulated sugar. You can also add a few drops of candy flavoring such as peppermint, cherry or lemon. It will be a good idea to have a few drops of food coloring to make your candy colorful. The main ingredients like proper utensils so that you can form the sugar crystals.

Measurement must be there when you are preparing rock candies. You must have to go for a measuring cup and spoon, a large heavy metal sauce pan, long wooden stirring spoon, clean glass jar, piece of sterilized cotton string, Popsicle stick, pencil, or skewer, paper clip, thick pot holders, candy thermometer. These ingredients must be with you otherwise it will make you trouble to make rock candy. Now you can start to make your own candy.

You have to firstly tie one end of the piece of string around the middle of the stick or pencil. Then cut the string according to your need, so that it will convenient for a little jar. So string should short as much as possible. Before rolling it in the sugar, moisten the string with a little water, which will help to clutch the sugar very easily. Then put the paper clip on the end of the string to help it hang straight down. Make a measurement so that string hangs down inside the jar as you laying the stick over the top of the glass jar. Make sure that the end of the string should not touch the bottom of the jar even.

After the candy mixture cooked then pours it into jar. Allow the sugar water few days for sit and don’t touch until it harder. Then you will able to found crystals with the string in a few hours. It will be better to keep them for 3 to 10 days to grow. After the significance day you will be able to eat the rock candy. So take out the string from the jar and break in to pieces for eat.
